Resistance & Desire is a book series published by bildungsLab*, a group of migrant scholars and scholars of Color working in the educational and cultural fields. The series connects critical thinking with artistic reflection, addressing themes such as decolonization, feminism, diaspora, and power structures.
The bildungsLab* was launched in 2017 within the framework of the Schools of Tomorrow project, initiated by the House of World Cultures (HKW). It was founded by María do Mar Castro Varela and inspired by Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s idea of education as a ›coercion-free reordering of desire‹. The group questions hegemonic discourses and develops utopian concepts for educational institutions.
